integrative approach towards healthy ageing for all

The 1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing Venue

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

Opened in mid-2005, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is the country's most technologically-advanced, purpose-built convention and exhibition facility at the heart of KLCC. Sprawling over some 7.3 acres of prime land space within the prestigious KLCC development precinct, the convention centre serves as a catalyst to put Kuala Lumpur on the world map as a preferred MICE destination. Its location could not be more strategic with literally thousands of international-class hotel rooms, a wide variety of public transportation and an overwhelming array of shopping districts are all within a short distance from the convention centre. In fact, the convention centre is said to be fully booked until the year 2012 which points out to the tremendous success of the project.

Numerous world awards have been bestowed on the convention centre since its inception which reflects its global standing in the meetings and conference industry. Just like other buildings in the massive development of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, or affectionately known as KLCC, the convention centre is owned by a subsidiary of KLCC Property Holdings Bhd. Its operation is co-managed by KLCC Holdings Sdn Bhd and Ogden International Facilities Corporation Pty Ltd of Australia. The total function space alone is tagged at 20,058m² which is not small by any standard, not inclusive of ancillary space for supporting services.

In general, the various facilities are spread over a five-storey function and exhibition areas. On the ground floor are five exhibition halls which can also be combined into one mega conference hall with a whopping 104,480ft² of function space. On Level 1, a two-tiered 3,000-seater plenary hall is a massive auditorium equipped with tech-savvy paraphernalia such as the latest audio-visual arrangement, digital conference voting system, interactive microphone on each seat and built-in language interpretation. A plenary theatre on Level 3 is a much smaller auditorium that can fit in 500 audience. In general, it also offers similar state-of-the-art features that can be found in the plenary hall in Level 1.
.
Level 3 of the convention centre is loaded with more function halls such as two grand ballrooms which can be amalgamated into a 25,706ft² function space, one banquet hall, and three conference halls. Twenty meeting rooms ranging from a built-up size of 463ft² to 1,861ft² are also available on Level 3 and Level 4 of the convention centre. These meeting rooms are aptly numbered 301-310 and 401-410 for easy reference. General supporting facilities in the convention centre are prayer rooms, ATM machines, bureau de change, travel agencies, transport desk, concierge station and convenience kiosks.

The facilities at the centre are supported by some of the most advanced technology available and the cabling is Category 1. Data networking, structured cabling, wireless LAN, telecommunication and digital audio visual facilities allow organizers to access information on demand and provide streamlined presentation facilities and comprehensive delegate services including internet services which can be made available anywhere in the building.

It’s not just the hi-tech facilities that set a new benchmark for convention services in Malaysia. Complimented by a team of very talented and dedicated staff, the convention centre is able to deliver meetings and conferences of very standards which is second to none.

The convention centre should not be mistaken merely as a place for work. Visitors can also embark on a tour of Aquaria KLCC which is a superb oceanarium that hosts a massive display of marine organism from the underwater world. Aquaria KLCC is located on Concourse Level of the convention centre and it can be easily reached by an underground tunnel from Suria KLCC. In addition to that, great selections of F&B outlets are also packed on the Concourse Level.
